Israel Plotted To Eliminate Me, Says Iranian President

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has alleged that Israel made an attempt on his life during the recent conflict between the two countries.

In an interview published on Monday, Pezeshkian claimed that the assassination plot was carried out amid the 12-day war that erupted last month between Tehran and Tel Aviv.

“They did try, yes. They acted accordingly, but they failed,” Pezeshkian told US media figure Tucker Carlson in response to a question on whether he believed Israel had tried to kill him.

“It was not the United States that was behind the attempt on my life. It was Israel. I was in a meeting… they tried to bombard the area in which we were holding that meeting,” he said according to a translation of his remarks from Persian, in apparent reference to an alleged assassination attempt during the recent war.

On June 13, Israel launched an unprecedented bombing campaign against Iran, killing top military commanders and nuclear scientists.

The Israeli strikes came just days before Tehran was scheduled to resume nuclear negotiations with Washington on April 12.

Iran’s judiciary reported that the brief but intense conflict claimed over 900 lives within the country. In response, Iran launched waves of drone and missile attacks, which Israeli officials say killed 28 people.

During the 12-day confrontation, both Israel and the United States carried out coordinated strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities at Fordo, Isfahan, and Natanz.

Speaking in a recent interview with Tucker Carlson, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian indicated that his government remains open to restarting nuclear discussions, but stressed that rebuilding trust is paramount.

He explained that Tehran is willing to return to the negotiating table, but questioned how his country could be certain that Israel would not be authorised to attack them again midway through talks.
