Popular Nigerian singer, entertainer and activist, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, professionally known as Charly Boy, has suggested that the ruling All Progressives Congress<\/a> (APC), is punishing Nigerians with hunger and hopelessness.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Charly Boy made the assertion in a post on his X handle on Monday which was sighted by Africa Today News, New York.<\/p>\n

\u201cSee as APC dey wicked us with hunger and hopelessness. Dia Fathers,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

His statement is coming amid the International Monetary Fund, IMF, report that Nigeria is experiencing a deepening economic crisis.<\/p>\n

IMF in a recently published report titled \u2018Review of Nigeria\u2019s Post Financing Assessment\u2019 by the IMF Executive Board, expressed concern that the stagnant per-capita growth, widespread poverty, and severe food insecurity have further intensified the persistent cost-of-living crisis in Nigeria.<\/p>\n

However, President Bola Tinubu said his government will do everything possible to expand food production and become a net exporter amid rising hunger and hardship in the country.<\/p>\n

Tinubu gave the assurance in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, after a delegation from the Global Tijaniyya Movement, led by Khalifa Muhammad Mahe Niass, visited him at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.<\/p>\n

In another report, Shina Peller, a one-time House of Representatives member, urges President Bola Tinubu<\/a>\u00a0to implement initiatives aimed at enhancing the well-being of Nigerians.<\/p>\n

As he makes his plea, protests have erupted in different parts of the country, fueled by the pervasive hardships and the mounting expenses of everyday life.<\/p>\n

On Monday, a gathering of women seized control of the Minna-Bida Road around the famed Kpakungu Roundabout in Niger State, urging government action to tackle the prevailing hardships.<\/p>\n

Following suit, Kano residents converged on the Katsina-Kano Road on Thursday to voice their dissatisfaction with the soaring cost of living in the country.<\/p>\n
