Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima<\/a> has declared that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is determined to eradicate corruption without fear or favoritism.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He made this known on Thursday at the Second Edition of The Chronicle Roundtable in Abuja where he explained that the government has been working to reduce the unemployment rate in the country.<\/p>\n

The event was focused on examining how Tinubu\u2019s administration\u2019s economic and social agenda will transform Nigeria.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur promise to wage war against corruption without interference or favouritism is being fulfilled. The ongoing high-profile cases indicate a new era of accountability,\u201d<\/em> he told the gathering which included the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris; the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters in the office of the Vice President, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed; and former Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Shamsudeen Usman; among others.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe administration\u2019s revenue drive is on track to deliver outstanding results, with the continued digitization of revenue collection in all ministries, departments, and agencies.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Africa Today News, New York understands that corruption has been a major challenge in Nigeria. Successive governments have over the years promised to crack down on it.<\/p>\n

Since coming on board a year ago, the President Bola Tinubu administration has vowed to tackle the menace headlong.<\/p>\n

Several agencies and parastatals have been investigated since then with the country\u2019s top anti-corruption agency the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) vowing to leave no stone unturned in its bid to fight corruption.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Shettima, yesterday, stated that whoever had succeeded former President Muhammadu Buhari, would have either chosen to steer the ship through the storm as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been doing or jumped the ship and let the country implode.<\/p>\n

Appealing to Nigerians to be patient with the current government as it steers the ship of state through the economic turbulence and storm it met on ground upon assuming office, he said the economy was already tottering towards an eclipse when they took over from Buhari.<\/p>\n
