{"id":112124,"date":"2024-05-13T02:25:40","date_gmt":"2024-05-13T06:25:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/africatodaynewsnewyork.com\/?p=112124"},"modified":"2024-05-13T02:25:40","modified_gmt":"2024-05-13T06:25:40","slug":"tinubu-wont-pick-sides-between-wike-fubara-presidency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/africatodaynewsnewyork.com\/2024\/05\/13\/tinubu-wont-pick-sides-between-wike-fubara-presidency\/","title":{"rendered":"Tinubu Won\u2019t Pick Sides Between Wike, Fubara \u2014 Presidency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Nigerian Presidency has declared that President <a href=\"https:\/\/africadailynews.net\/2023\/10\/09\/release-nnamdi-kanu-now-a-must-for-tinubus-administration.html\">Bola Tinubu<\/a> will not take sides in the raging political crisis rocking Rivers State.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, who made this revelation during an interview on TVC News on Sunday, stressing that those hoping the president would take a side are mistaken and would be disappointed.<\/p>\n<p>He went on to say that the president will not put a stop to the Rivers State government&#8217;s attempts to run its operations in a way that benefits the people.<\/p>\n<p>The rift between Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara and his estranged predecessor and Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, took a fresh twist recently with a call by All Progressives Congress (APC) on APC lawmakers to impeach the governor.<\/p>\n<p>The governor, in turn, said the 27 APC lawmakers, who are Wike loyalists, do not exist, having constitutionally lost their seats after they left PDP for APC. He also said an initial political deal brokered by the president to resolve the rift was unconstitutional.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><strong>Read Also: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/africatodaynewsnewyork.com\/2024\/05\/13\/stop-electricity-subsidy-now-imf-urges-tinubus-govt\/\">Stop Electricity Subsidy Now, IMF Urges Tinubu\u2019s Govt<\/a><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But, Wike, at a recent gathering in Rivers State, said he regretted supporting Fubara to emerge governor and pledged to remove him in 2027.<\/p>\n<p>However, while speaking during the interview, the presidential spokesman said \u201c<em>I believe that anyone who believes that by their actions, whether it\u2019s from the federal level or from the state level and even to the legislative branch in the state or the executive branch, if they are banking on Mr. President taking sides in this matter, they are mistaken and they would be disappointed.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe President will never take sides, what he will do is to ensure that everybody has what they need to work.
