A Presidential Committee on Climate Action and Green Economic Solutions has been established by President Bola Tinubu<\/a> to coordinate and oversee all policies and programmes on climate action and green economic development.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The President also appointed his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale as the Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action.<\/p>\n

The Committee is to be Chaired by the President himself, while the Minister of Environment, Mister Balarabe Lawal will serve as the Vice Chairman. Mister Ngelale will serve as the Secretary of the Committee while also doubling as the Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action.<\/p>\n

A statement by the Director, Information & Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mister Segun Imohiosen which was made available to Africa Today News, New York says the Committee will remove the constraints to coordination, foster a whole-of-government approach to climate-action programmes, provide an efficient governance architecture, and ensure that all relevant institutions in the sector are plugged into the President\u2019s vision and are collectively implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda on climate action.<\/p>\n

The Statement however says, Mister Ngelale will retain his office as spokesman to the President.<\/p>\n

Also, the President approved the appointment of The Infrastructure Corporation of Nigeria (InfraCorp) as the Lead Arranger and Developer of Evergreen City, Nigeria\u2019s green industrial zone, with the following terms of reference:<\/p>\n

(1) Selection of partners\/consultants to undertake critical development activities, including project design, environmental impact assessments, feasibility studies, financial modelling, and market engagement.<\/p>\n

(2) Raising private funding for the development of the city and constituent projects.<\/p>\n

(3) Coordinating with partners, development institutions, and other providers of capital and technical assistance.<\/p>\n

(4) Reporting to the Supervisory Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen<\/p>\n
