A former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has asserted that despite the challenges his party, the Peoples Democratic Party<\/a> (PDP) is currently facing, he will run for the presidency of Nigeria in the 2027 election.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Africa Today News, New York reports that for six times, Atiku has for the number one office in Nigeria within the last three decades, his most recent attempt being in the 2023 presidential election as the PDP candidate.<\/p>\n

At his last attempt, the 77-year-old got 6,984,520 votes to come second in the poll won by Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who garnered 8,794,726.<\/p>\n

When asked whether he would try again, Atiku told Voice of America Hausa: \u201cGod willing\u201d.<\/p>\n

He added that he won\u2019t back down from running for the presidency for as long as \u201cGod gives me strength, health and longevity\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cA former President of America, Abraham Lincoln, didn\u2019t he vie seven times?\u201d he asked rhetorically.<\/p>\n

The former vice president also admitted that it is imperative for the PDP to collaborate with other parties if it is to regain power from the incumbent APC.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs the PDP party is right now, it is the only one standing up for election. There is no way it will win the election. It requires joining forces with other parties,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In another report, media mogul and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu, has blamed all issues facing the party on an alleged attempt by the ruling All Progressives Congress<\/a>\u00a0(APC) to destabilize and destroy opposition in Nigeria.<\/p>\n

Momodu, who was a guest on Channels Television\u2019s\u00a0Politics Today<\/em>\u00a0which was monitored by Africa Today News, New York, accused the ruling party of plotting to crush the opposition.<\/p>\n

\u201cAPC will do everything possible to destroy opposition; buy those who are buyable, to terrorise those who are not buyable and make sure that the party is in disarray, that is all,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Momodu said.<\/p>\n

He accused President Bola Tinubu of stifling opposition even after thriving as an opposition leader before his party dislodged PDP as the ruling party.<\/p>\n
