Portuguese International, Jose Mourinho<\/a> has opened up on why he opted to join Fenerbahce despite receiving offers from several Big European clubs.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The former Manchester United and Chelsea boss was officially unveiled on Sunday in front of thousands of ecstatic supporters.<\/p>\n

Mourinho has signed what is understood to be a two-year deal with the Turkish club.<\/p>\n

According to him, \u201cSince the moment I met with President Ali Koc I wanted to play for you because in the end you are the soul of the football club.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cSince the moment I met him and understood his ideas, his project I wanted to play for you. I wanted to be the coach of all of you.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI want to work for Turkish football, I want to work for the Turkish league. I want to help to improve [it] but the most important thing for me is not Turkish football, it\u2019s not the Turkish league, it\u2019s Fenerbahce.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The two-time Champions League-winning boss, who was sacked by Roma in January, is reported to have signed a two-year deal.<\/p>\n

And in his first season he guided Roma to the inaugural Conference League, a triumph which brought Mourinho to tears on the pitch and made him an almost God-like figure to one Europe\u2019s most passionate and success-starved fan bases.<\/p>\n

He then came to within a penalty shootout of winning back-to-back European finals, Roma falling at the last hurdle against Sevilla in last season\u2019s Europa League.<\/p>\n

While there he told reporters about the difficulty Fenerbahce face in trying to qualify for next season\u2019s competition.<\/p>\n

\u201c(It is) hard because we have three rounds of qualifying and in Fenerbahce\u2019s case, eight players are at the Euros and they are not coming for pre-season before the first round,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I go, you know that I like challenges so we are going to fight to be in the Champions League.\u201d<\/p>\n
