{"id":113729,"date":"2024-06-09T04:12:53","date_gmt":"2024-06-09T08:12:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/africatodaynewsnewyork.com\/?p=113729"},"modified":"2024-06-09T04:12:53","modified_gmt":"2024-06-09T08:12:53","slug":"japa-people-now-liquidate-savings-to-exit-nigeria-ali-baba","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/africatodaynewsnewyork.com\/2024\/06\/09\/japa-people-now-liquidate-savings-to-exit-nigeria-ali-baba\/","title":{"rendered":"Japa: People Now Liquidate Savings To Exit Nigeria \u2014 Ali Baba"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Veteran Nigerian comedian, Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, popularly known as <a href=\"https:\/\/africadailynews.net\/2020\/03\/24\/prayers-pastors-cannot-cure-coronavirus-ali-baba.html\">Ali Baba<\/a>, has disclosed that some persons now liquidate their investments and belongings to leave the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He also stated that many people in the entertainment industry have left the country in the last few years.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during an appearance on Channels TV\u2019s Sunrise programme which was monitored by Africa Today, Ali Baba stated that some of the people who left the country could have survived Nigeria\u2019s current economic realities with the talents and opportunities they have.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201c<em>When I said unpredictable, it is that some things that have been happening are things that people\u00a0have not prepared for.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cSo, you found out that people are now dipping their hands into savings,\u00a0if there were any, and trying to manage their resources.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAlso, between January\u00a0and now, out of 10 people that I said \u2018they would not Japa\u2019, you just hear somebody call you later and say, \u2018Oh, you know, I\u2019ve not been around\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><strong>Read Also: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/africatodaynewsnewyork.com\/2024\/05\/24\/diddys-domestic-violence-left-me-broken-cassie-cries-out\/\">Diddy\u2019s Domestic Violence Left Me Broken, Cassie Cries Out<\/a><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cAnd you say, okay, \u2018when are you coming back?\u2019 And they say they\u2019re not coming back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know about four comedians who have travelled and many more in entertainment who have travelled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe sad thing is that some of these people who are travelling are some people who seemingly could have survived in the economy because of the talent that they had; the potential, and the opportunities that had come to them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ace comedian also narrated how his friend left the country to give his children a better life.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cSo, when you find those kinds of people leaving, they\u2019re now thinking, \u2018What do I have over these people that I\u2019m still here? Right? Is it patriotism? Is it family ties? Is it hope and expectations?\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cBut many people are liquidating investments and travelling,\u201d Alibaba said.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cA friend of mine travelled two days after Valentine. We had a Valentine\u2019s party, and he was there. Everything was okay.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAnd then he called me in May to say, \u2018Ah, how are you? How are you? How\u2019s Nigeria?\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI said, You\u2019re here, too. Then he said he left on February 16.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI said, What happened? He said that he had weighed it over time,\u00a0that if he was spending X amount of money raising three of his kids,\u00a0it would be good if somebody took off the cost of education from him so that he could then express\u00a0himself in other ways and have a good life.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHe also said that if you raise your children, and after you raise the children at the age of 21, or 22, you still have to take care of them,\u00a0then it\u2019s good to go to a society where if you raise them to 18, or 20, they can begin to take care of themselves or find work somehow.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Besides, if you raise them in a certain country, by the time they\u2019ve done four, five, or six years, certainty is what you can say about citizenship.
