Ahead of Saturday’s election, the Vice-presidential candidate of Labour Party<\/a>, Datti Baba-Ahmed has declared that he believes the party will win Lagos state in the February 25th presidential polls.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Baba-Ahmed stated this in an interview on Channels Television\u2019s The 2023 Verdict on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

He said a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket will not work in Nigeria, considering the multi-ethnicity peculiarities of Nigeria.<\/p>\n

Baba-Ahmed dismissed the same-faith ticket presented by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.<\/p>\n

He said, ‘Why today Tinubu is not the vice president of Nigeria is the same reason he cannot be president.’<\/em><\/p>\n

‘What couldn\u2019t happen in 2015 when the then candidate Buhari asked for any nomination whatsoever from Tinubu \u2013 because that configuration has passed. It can no longer work in Nigeria. [A] Muslim-Muslin ticket cannot work anymore. That configuration cannot work anymore.’<\/em><\/p>\n

Baba-Ahmed underscored the place of faith in Nigeria\u2019s political structure, saying the country\u2019s sociopolitical makeup is not a random occurrence but divinely orchestrated by God.<\/p>\n

He said, ‘The creator of the heavens and earth does not make mistakes. This is the Federal Republic of Nigeria as duly filed at the United Nations and registered too.’<\/em><\/p>\n

‘It\u2019s not the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for example, or the Vatican or Iran or Libya or Mauritania. It\u2019s a federal republic, and God didn\u2019t make a mistake by putting all of us, 250 [tribes].<\/em><\/p>\n

‘You find other countries, nearly 100 percent \u2013 one faith, one language, one group. Not the same in Nigeria \u2013 250 [tribes] at least and two big competing religions. And we say that it\u2019s not a mistake from our creator.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Africa Today News, New York reports that according to him, out of 18 political parties that presented presidential candidates, 15 have fallen behind while the other two are not on the ballot.<\/p>\n
