The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure<\/a> has boasted that none of the newly elected National Assembly members under the party would defect to other parties contrary to what is being speculated.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The chairman while speaking in Abuja after meeting with members of the National Assembly-elect, pointed out that the party would make a difference in deepening the nation\u2019s democracy.<\/p>\n

‘The federal lawmakers-elect are men of integrity, and none will jump ship in the 10th National Assembly,’ he declared.<\/p>\n

The Labour Party chairman said the party won eight Senate seats and 34 seats in the lower chamber.<\/p>\n

He went on to add that; ‘We must record here that all those elected on the Labour Party platform are men and women of high reputation and integrity, and I\u2019m sure they were aware of the basis of their election.<\/em><\/p>\n

‘Even if there are infiltrations, our members can resist such infiltrations,’ <\/em>he said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the party has resolved to\u00a0return the nomination fee to the family of the deceased to show empathy and compassion.<\/p>\n

Addressing newsmen, he said, ‘You will recall that one of our aspirants in Imo State lost his life. I am pleased to announce to members of the public and members of the Labour Party family and his immediate family that the party will refund the nomination fee of N25 million that he spent.<\/em><\/p>\n

‘We feel that we need to do this the support the family and show leadership of compassion, of empathy and that is whet the Labour Party stands for.’<\/em><\/p>\n

Africa Today News, New York reports that the upcoming primary of the party in the state is expected to hold next month as earlier scheduled ahead of the November 11th Imo gubernatorial elections.<\/p>\n
