Senior<\/span> Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Chief Mike Ahamba has appealed to the President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu<\/a> to urgently carry out measures to restructure Nigeria, in order to return the country to its productive days.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

He said the need to fundamentally restructure as soon as possible, was to stop the component entities from reaping from the national treasury, instead of contributing to its growth and development.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ahamba who said he was speaking as a lawyer, stated that nothing would stop Tinubu\u2019s inauguration as President of Nigeria on May 29, noting that the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was very clear on that.<\/span><\/p>\n

He, however, added that the individual so sworn in, could be removed, should the courts declare that he did not win the election.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ahamba said on agreeing to become one entity, the component nationalities of Nigeria, had a common ground to produce and bring to the centre, but was worried that the agreement had been jettisoned, and turned the other way with states going to the centre to collect allocations, instead of providing for the central government.<\/span><\/p>\n

The situation, according to the eminent lawyer, has made some parts of the country lazy, while waiting to collect from the centre.<\/span><\/p>\n

‘I expect the incoming administration, to, as a matter of urgency, fundamentally restructure the country for our nation to return to its productive past, instead of being a consuming one.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

‘We agreed to be one country, whose components should produce and bring to the centre and not the other way, in which we go to take from the Federal Government.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

‘This is making some parts of the country lazy, waiting to collect allocation from the centre,’<\/em>\u00a0he said <\/span><\/p>\n

The lawyer also called on the incoming administration to pursue the goal for better governance and growth of the economy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
