The immediate past governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje<\/a>, has offered reasons why he opted to be absent at the inauguration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Monday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He noted that he did not attend the inauguration due to concerns about the potential for violence between their supporters.<\/p>\n

Ganduje made this revelation in an interview with BBC Hausa on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

According to him, he has no any issues with the new government in the state.<\/p>\n

Ganduje said it was just hype, noting that he has a good relationship with the new government.<\/p>\n

The former Kano governor said, ‘Handing over can be divided into two aspects. The first is the transition of power, which involves the transfer of documents and information about the government\u2019s operations, including completed projects, projects that were not completed, and advice for the incoming government.’<\/p>\n

He added that; ‘The second aspect is the inauguration. If the outgoing and incoming governments are from different political parties, it is not always necessary to attend the inauguration, as there is a risk of violence between supporters.’<\/em><\/p>\n

On whether he attended Tinubu\u2019s inauguration for an appointment, Ganduje said, ‘I am not here for any appointments, but if I am appointed, I will not decline.<\/p>\n

‘I am optimistic about Tinubu\u2019s presidency. We will pray for him and continue to support him because he was elected due to his good track record.’<\/em><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the newly inaugurated governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf had earlier rained curses on his predeces\u00adsor, Gandu\u00adje, over huge liabilities and debt<\/a>\u00a0profile handed over to him following his swearing-in.<\/p>\n

Yusuf, otherwise known as Abba Gida-Gida, who was provoked by the impact of the handing over note, retorted:\u00a0\u2018It is so dishearten\u00ading that the government left debt profile of over N241 billion; where are we going to source the mon\u00adey? And the internally generated revenue they are talking about is nothing to write home about. \u2018I ask Allah to reward Ganduje according to what he did\u2019<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The former governor of Kano, Ganduje, left a whopping \u20a6241.3 billion liabilities and \u20a675.6 bil\u00adlion for the new administration in handling over a document he transmitted to the former SSG, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, on Monday morning.<\/p>\n
