President Bola Tinubu<\/a> convened a private meeting with the national caucus of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Old Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, yesterday evening, in preparation for the upcoming National Executive Council (NEC) meeting scheduled for Thursday in Abuja.<\/strong><\/p>\n

While the meeting’s purpose was kept private, and journalists were not allowed in, it seemed likely that the discussions pertained to the party’s leadership succession dynamics.<\/p>\n

In recent times, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Iyiola Omisore, who held the positions of National Chairman and Secretary in the party, have tendered their resignations.<\/p>\n

After their resignations, there have been subtle political movements as different factions vie for the positions they left vacant.<\/p>\n

Reports indicated that there were speculations of the President’s support for the former Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, to assume the role of National Chairman, while other stakeholders were reportedly rallying behind the former Nasarawa state governor, Senator Tanko Almakura, as his potential successor.<\/p>\n

A source revealed that the meeting’s agenda will include discussions about the selection of the National Chairman and Secretary of the party, along with other matters that have sparked controversy.<\/p>\n

Attendees anticipated at the meeting included all serving governors from the party, past national executive members, former President Muhammadu Buhari, and the leadership of the National Assembly.<\/p>\n
